A new tradition that we started this evening- Resurrection Cookies. I remember my Mom getting this recipe and making them with Leighton after I was already out of the home. The first thing to do, gather the ingredients.
Each one of these items represents something in the story of the Crucifixion of Jesus. As you are preparing each item to put into the bowl you are reading scripture that goes along with it. For instance, you put the pecans in a plastic bag and let the kids beat a wooden spoon on them until they are broken into pieces. This represents when Christ was beaten.
At this point you turn off the oven, place the cookies inside the "tomb" and then seal the "tomb" with tape. You then keep them in there until morning.

We made those last year!
